They may have stolen your heart in ‘94 with “Toast and Bananas”, or maybe you climbed on the wagon with “All The Small Things”. Then they broke your heart when they split in 2005. And just when you thought you’d never see them live again, they surprised you in ‘09 with a Reunion Tour. I remember screaming the lyrics to “Down” at the top of my lungs, and like it was an act of God (or whatever) rain begin to come down. I thought to myself, “Wow, they really know how to shut it down” and then Travis Barker took it to a whole other dimension (literally) as he played the drums while spinning uncontrollably in every direction.
Well now we have made it to 2011. And what do you know, they are back and with a darker sound, but their lyrics will still bring you back to your younger years. This new track entitled “Up All Night” is their first released single to the 6th studio album “Neighborhoods”. I am looking forward to what they are going to bring to the table and you should be too! Grab a fork, and enjoy.
Bon Iver did it. And now Adele. A couple of my favorite vocalists covering Bonnie Raitt “I Can’t Make You Love Me”. Everything about the song, from the lyrics to the piano just captures my heart every single time. Absolute Bliss.
Toro y Moi’s latest album, Underneath the Pinehas been bliss this year. But he isn’t done pleasing your ear drums. A new EP called “Freaking out” is said to be released September 13 this year and this is the first track called “Saturday Love”
I love this song. Katie Costello reminds me of Adele meets Ingrid Michaelson. She has the vocals to have a powerful voice but she uses very light breathing and soft vocals which compliments the piano in most of her songs.
The Childish Games. This mash-up is cray cray. At first you’re thinking, “Oh, Adele ‘Rolling In The Deep’”…but then you hear Backstreet Boys ‘As Long As You Love Me’ and are just musically thrown the rest of the way. Enjoy!
Joy Williams and John Paul White have phenomenal music chemistry that cannot be overlooked. They started as solo artists and it’s obvious why their harmonies came together. A couple of years ago they released a 4-song EP “Poison and Wine” which climbed the charts in the world of iTunes with download after download. This year in February they released their first full length album “Barton Hollow”. This remix is awesome. I wouldn’t go as far to say incredible but it has elements to it that make it great. The simple slowed down lyrical pace does a lot of the track. Not to mention Hollywood Holt jumping in and dropping some lines!
After listening through Taking Back Sunday’s 2011 self-entitled album, I picked out a couple of favorites. “(Faith) When I Let You Down” was definitely top 2. Dear high school self, enjoy.
